Woman holding clear aligner

Have you been thinking of straightening your teeth but stop short because you don't want the metallic look of traditional braces?

Invisalign® clear aligners could be the discreet teeth-straightening solution you've been looking for.

Discover why Invisalign clear aligners from Boston Prosthodontics Dental Group in Boston, MA, are a great choice to enhance your smile...

Advantages of Invisalign

Straightening your smile with Invisalign is discreet, comfortable, and effective, which is why it's the only orthodontic treatment offered by the Boston Prosthodontics team at their world-renowned Boston, MA, dental practice. Here are a few reasons why:

By using clear aligners made of clear BPA-free plastic, Invisalign allows patients to receive orthodontic care without making it obvious. Using this advanced solution, patients can achieve straighter teeth without the feelings of self-consciousness that traditional braces often cause.

While functional and effective, the metal wires and brackets used by braces to move teeth into place are not designed for comfort. In contrast, the smooth surfaces of Invisalign aligners often make it easy to forget you are even wearing them in the first place.

While it is essential that you wear your aligners for 22 hours every day, the ability to remove them when necessary makes living with orthodontic treatment much more convenient. Metal braces are permanently attached to your teeth.

No Diet Restrictions

Since you can remove your aligners at meal time, you can eat and drink whatever you want without fear of damaging the wires and brackets associated with metal braces. However, don't drink hot or dark beverages with your aligners in place to prevent warping and staining.

Easier Oral Care

Braces can make it tough to clean your teeth properly as food particles can get stuck to them. Since Invisalign aligners are removable, you can brush and floss normally to maintain healthy gums and teeth.

Stunning Invisalign Results

Before treatment
Uneven teeth plus an overbite caused this patient to be unhappy with their smile.
After treatment
After Invisalign trays shifted the patient's teeth into alignment, the result was a much straighter, more symmetrical smile.

5-Star Reviews from Smiling Patients "Ken Malament is to prosthodontics as Picasso is to modern art."

I have been a patient of Dr. Malament's since 1991-2. That, in and of itself, tells the story but I am also very fond of the staff that has been constant all these years too. Denise and Marybeth feel like family and the hygienist, Diane is superb. Dr. Malament is not just a first rate dentist but an artist.

The Invisalign Treatment Process

All cases are different, but most patients' teeth reach proper alignment in about 12 to 18 months.
All cases are different, but most patients' teeth reach proper alignment in about 12 to 18 months.

Before treatment, you will meet with one of our skilled prosthodontists for an initial consultation. Your smile, oral health, and candidacy for an Invisalign treatment plan will be evaluated.

If Invisalign is right for you, precise digital impressions of your teeth will be taken. A series of customized aligners will be then be created from these impressions at a trusted top-grade lab. The number of aligners depends on the seriousness of your misalignment.

Alignment Begins

Each aligner will gently shift your teeth closer to their proper positions. You must wear each one for a minimum of 22 hours a day for about two weeks. After that, you'll switch to the next aligner and so on. It is important to follow the treatment plan as prescribed.

Check-In Appointments

You'll come back for progress exams every four to six weeks. Your dentist will give you the next batch of aligners during these visits. Most patients need an average of 24 to 36 aligners, depending on their individual misalignment.

SmartForce® Attachments

If needed, your Boston Prosthodontics dentist may attach small, barely noticeable protrusions to some of your teeth to help your aligners exert pressure in just the right areas. It depends on the individual case.

Completion of Treatment

All cases are different, but most patients' teeth reach proper alignment in about 12 to 18 months although, it could take less or more time.

How Do I Keep My Teeth from Shifting Back?

In order to keep your teeth in alignment after your Invisalign treatment is done, your dentist may recommend wearing your last aligner at night as a retainer. However, this may cause a lot of wear and tear on the tray.

Vivera® Retainers

Your Boston Prosthodontics dentist may recommend Invisalign's Vivera retainers to wear at night. These custom-fit retainers are much stronger and longer-lasting than regular Invisalign trays. You may not need a new one for a full year.
