5-Star Reviews from Boston Prosthodontics Patients... "Ken Malament is to prosthodontics as Picasso is to modern art."

Google logo

I have been a patient of Dr. Malament's since 1991-2. That, in and of itself, tells the story but I am also very fond of the staff that has been constant all these years too. Denise and Marybeth feel like family and the hygienist, Diane is superb. Dr. Malament is not just a first rate dentist but an artist.

Tell Me about the Veneer Procedure Does It Hurt or Take a Long Time?

The dental veneer process can usually be completed over the course of two appointments of about an hour each. And since this is a non-surgical procedure, only a mild numbing anesthetic is used to keep you comfortable during the process. Some cosmetic patients don't even need it. Here's how the procedure works:

A fast and effective cosmetic treatment...

What to Expect

The dental veneer process can usually be completed over the course of two appointments of about an hour each.
The dental veneer process can usually be completed over the course of two appointments of about an hour each.

1st Appointment

  • Your skilled dentist will use a special tool to painlessly remove a small amount of enamel from the surface of each tooth that will receive a veneer.
  • Precise 3D impressions will be made of your teeth using the latest dental imaging technology, so the fit and size of your veneers will be near-perfect.
  • Our superior on-site lab will expertly fabricate your strong, life-like permanent veneers based on your doctor's exact specifications.
  • Temporary veneers will be made and placed on your teeth during this appointment to keep them protected until your permanents are ready in about a week or two.

2nd Appointment

  • Your temporary dental veneers will be gently removed by your dentist.
  • Each veneer will be checked thoroughly to ensure it blends in seamlessly with your natural teeth.
  • Your dentist may clean your teeth to remove plaque and tartar and prevent bacteria growth.
  • Your permanent porcelain veneers are ready to be bonded in place using a strong, long-lasting dental cement.
  • Stains, cracks, and chips will no longer be visible. It's time to show off your brand new, confident smile to everyone you meet!

I've Heard Dental Bonding  Is a Cheaper Way to Restore My Smile

It is, but it's not as life-like or long-lasting as veneers.

Bonding is an excellent choice for patients who are not ready for the permanent commitment of veneers or those who want instant results in one appointment. However, the composite resin will not have the same translucency as your surrounding teeth and it can chip fairly easily.

Porcelain Veneers Cost

The cost of your porcelain veneers can be affected by many different factors:

Necessary Pre-Veneer Treatments

Treatments for gum disease or decay will likely raise the cost.

Number of Porcelain Veneers Needed

You may need one or more porcelain veneers to rejuvenate your smile. This will affect the cost.

Grade of Porcelain Used

The highest grade of porcelain will provide the best results but it will cost more.

Are Porcelain Veneers Covered by My Insurance?

Unfortunately, most insurance plans consider veneers to be cosmetic and not a medical procedure, meaning they are typically not covered.
