What Is a Prosthodontist?
While general dentists handle routine care, prosthodontists are dentists with advanced training in tooth replacement and restoration.
And unlike dentists, prosthodontists receive years of advanced, hands-on training in dental implants and other restorative oral treatments.
Boston Prosthodontics Dental Group includes two board-certified prosthodontists as members of its elite team of Boston, MA, dentists.
A Closer Look at Prosthodontics
Prosthodontics is a dental specialty pertaining to the diagnosis and treatment of patients with missing or damaged teeth. Prosthodontists are experts at creating prosthetics for teeth.
To become a prosthodontist, dental school graduates must complete at least three additional years of specialized training that focuses on the restoration and replacement of broken or missing teeth.
Prosthodontists are specifically trained in helping patients with dental implants, crowns, bridges, and dentures, as well as cosmetic dentistry and temporomandibular disorders (TMJ/TMD). They also are trained in correcting issues involving the face, jaws, and mouth.
Prosthodontists are recognized as the experts in restorative dental treatments. They are regularly selected to lead teams of dentists and other health professionals to effectively deal with complex dental problems.
Our prosthodontists work closely with general dentists and other specialists throughout the region. They also collaborate directly with master craftsmen at our in-house lab to create unbelievably lifelike restorations for implants, such as dentures.
What Is a Board-Certified Prosthodontist?
Boston Prosthodontics Dental Group has two board-certified prosthodontists on its world-renowned team of dentists. To qualify for board certification in the prosthodontic field, our dentists passed an in-depth exam by the American Board of Prosthodontists. They must then achieve re-certification every eight years to ensure they keep current with practices in their specialty.

"Dr. Malament Is at the Top Of His Field."
Dr. Malament's work is of the highest standard. He and his team have created numerous crowns for me over the years with attention to the both aesthetics and overall dental health. My regular dentist has observed many times that Dr. Malament is at the top of his field and his work has no parallel.View More Google Reviews
I have been a patient of Dr. Malament's since 1991-2. That, in and of itself, tells the story but I am also very fond of the staff that has been constant all these years too. Denise and Marybeth feel like family and the hygienist, Diane is superb. Dr. Malament is not just a first rate dentist but an artist.View More Google Reviews
